I have again been told of an instance where a builder is telling people they are contractually bound to not sell their home from one year of purchase. If that's not bullying I don't know what is!

Hey there! Rob Reynar here, checking in. Another disturbing story tonight, after meeting with some clients about a builder telling people that when they bought their home, their brand new home, that in the contract they were signing was a provision that they were not allowed to sell that home for one year. I cannot believe that somebody would try and pull that off. I know that downtown condominium project in Calgary told their buyers the same thing because I sold a unit in that complex, despite the provision in that contract and the builder did nothing about it because I believe they know damn well they can't do anything about it, if someone wants to sell their home that they have clear title to, they can do it. I don't care what the original purchase contract says. Now, hey I am not a lawyer, I'm not a lawyer. I don't even play one on TV, but I would want to get some legal advice on that, but you know what? I would find it very hard to believe that any builder or developer could prevent you from selling your house after you bought it and have clear title. I'd love to hear your comments on this and maybe you've had a similar experience and you can shed some light on the issue. firstname.lastname@example.org.
