Really great news today from Alberta's Oil and Gas sector.. Looks like land leases are being snapped up again..

Hey There! Rob Reynar here, checking in. Some really good news that has hit today, Alberta land leases are sky rocketing and that means oil and gas companies are getting ready to go back in the ground in Alberta. I think a lot of it is anticipation of a change in the Royalty structure as we know the Stelmach Government really blew the Royalty review. They forced the oil and gas companies to go to neighboring BC and Saskatchewan, who sweetened the deal there. I think a lot of those companies are comping home, they're coming back to Alberta, they're gonna start doing their thing again. Land leases in the last month have shot up, they've sky rocketed and we haven't seen that in a long time. I think I heard today the size of Prince Edward Island is now up for bid in Alberta to start leasing land to the oil and gas companies again. So really positive news because when Alberta's oil and gas sector is cooking, that really filters down into the real estate market. We saw that in 2007 and I'm not saying we're gonna see that type of market again but it is good for the overall health of the economy here in Alberta. Great news!
